Hi Peter, I did actually buy that Phygelius when living near Loch Lomond in Argyllshire, somewhat further south than where I am now, but it happily flowered there. The plant has been here in Caithness for nearly 3 years now, outside all the time, maybe thats why I haven't had any flowers, but...

someone gave it to me, they didnt know what it was and it was a while before i could identify it. I've never seen one in the garden centers, im hoping that the frost hasnt completely killed it, its such a beautiful plant

I have two roses which briefly flower around now, like briars but double [moss roses?] I must admit that I cut them back after flowering and at intervals thereafter to try to keep them under control!Waco, I must read that book, it seems to have inspired you!

Hello does anybody know where i could get any leaf mold from, i keep reading about it, and it seems to be good for everything, am i too late to make my own for this autumns planting ( as there seems to be a lot of leaf drop with the recent hot spell). Can anyone help?

Michele and Phil - are you talking about wanting them for next Autumn? It is difficult to transfer anything for autumn or winter colour right now - but this is a great time to do some digging and designing to begin to sort out your garden for next year. Can you bear to look past this season...
