Took the pot out of the water container and then tipped the pot out.Nothing alive unfortunately

Agree with the above...once you add fish, life will become a constant battle for clear water.

2,000 litres / hour sounds loads doesn't it? but thinking about it that's 0.5L per second, which sounds about right for a decent trickle.

I'm not sure what size they need to be but I believe the females need a certain number of hours at a certain temperature to produce eggs for the following year and they spawn only when the water reaches a certain temperature. If they are chasing each other you will probably be in luck. The...

Good plan. If you have some shelves for plants that is a good place to pop maybe some larger stones - that way the tadpoles have some place to survive and hide from some hungry fishies!

I've dismissed that pump I was looking at, as a bit of further research and some calculations reveal it to be incapable of living up to what I want. Several other priorities now stand before building the waterfall, so its postponed for the time being. I have to make the area kiddy safe yet, so...

mowgley I have noticed a lack of blanket weed in recent weeks, but, a plethora of tadpoles! I may be wrong, but I think taddies feed on blanket weed (amongst other things, such as mosquito larvae) ? In which case, my taddies have a veritable glut going on (should I warn the taddies G.P....

Nice one Caveman.. I have found it takes a pond around 12 months min to set it's own eco system up & the plants establish themselves.. The full sun will cause the algae to grow as it is all so new & also fairly shallow.. So you will have to expect that for a while... Although hateful stuff...
