I thought having a bridge and pebbles at the Base if the pond with pebbles at the shallow end leading to a beach area was enough. Hopefully the plants will help matters this year

    Pool problem

I have a wildlife pond. I use a mains connected pump to circulate the water and let it splash down again to the pond. Stops it becoming stagnant by putting oxygen into the water.

    A mystery?

I’ve used ‘Blanket Answer’ and it looks very much like that. Very effective. Obviously, you wouldn’t want to put anything in the pond if you don’t know what it is.

@buddleia64 Humus rich soil means soil with a lot of organic matter in it; so a lot of leaf mould or home made compost.

I'm sure if it was a likely problem councils would be concreteing over every water feature that they can find. Had a pond and water butts for many years and I'm still alive, but only just.

Diluting fertiliser to use in a pond.

The pond is 40cm x 27.7 cm. Taking it as a cylinder that is 22 litres so allowing for the slight taper I settled on 20 litres approx.

Pond is very silty after fish introduced.

When I had my pond I'd Hoover the bottom with an old wet & dry vacuum cleaner 2 or 3 times a year.
