Tap water will be a small part of the problem luci other issues will come into play, i top up with tap water and do have a certain amount of algae but its at a level i am happy with.

Thanks for that, we have had some starlings and they had their young on the fence and were feeding them a couple of weeks back. This must have been one of them that's got bigger. Hasn't got its distinctive markings yet.

If it was a mole there would probably be a pile of soil above the hole.

Thanks BH, there from pond stretcher i think one of the pond shops anyhow £2 , i had the same packet two years ago and they all did very well, last year i spent a fortune on individual packets and they was rubbish so back to what i know, i might start them off in what was going to be a summer...

I used to feed the birds here on the bird ball 50 in a tub for £5 but the squirrels used to destroy the food in no time besides the pigeons but they do get tried toast and bird balls off the neighbour next door...they get the water from our garden back and front and 2 doors away both neighbours...

unfortunately they didn't have the same protected status that they have now.

Bluetit activity around the nest box this morning it is a returning visit so Had bluetits in there the first year it was up; last year, it was bees! Really hoping it will be the turn of the bluetits this year again.

I don't know the name of these shrubs but they don't grow naturally like this they was flopping on the flooor, ive been training them by tying it up and pruning.

I think we all have a soft spot for the Robins Doghouse Riley. Recently having moved to a rural position I see quite a few now with up to half a dozen around the bird table together. They can be vicious with each other and quite a few spats go on.A male Pheasant has recently become a regular...
