Wildlife Corner

I had never seen a baby robin until we moved to Eire, I was flumoxed by these little birds, Robin shaped, dun coloured with green flecks, they followed me round our smallholding, I would throw them some dog biscuits, as the time went on they developed the red breast, mystery solved. I was delighted.

Not sure that they eat them but they certainly are scaring the greys off (well .. they might eat one or two before the rest run away ) There are supposed to be Pine Martens in each of the counties over here now. Haven't seen any though .....

Hi new to me , It may of been a hornet I very much doubt it would of been a apis Meillifera aka honey bee , in all the years I have kept them I have never seen them eat another insect , tear them apart yes ie a wasp trying to get into the hive. We would need a photo if possible.Ka Ho ...

I think it's a really good idea, so yes.Suggest starting by cutting the Brambles down to ground level, then Glyphosate the re-growth, removing some scrub and see what starts appearing, taking out any pernicious weeds that appear.This is what I got from doing that on an overgrown plot,...

Get some goldfish in there if your pond is filtered or if it's big enough some bigger fish. Goldfish will eat absolutely anything.

Cat food or if it lived at mine a snack for one of the many birds of prey flying about that regularly leave piles of victims feathers on my lawn .

The resilience of nature never ceases to impress me. This poppy has somehow managed to grow against my front garden wall, right next to the pavement. I'm leaving it there in the hope that it will brighten the day for a few people as they pass by.
