Finally saw 1 on my Cosmos yesterday, and a Black and Red one down by the Marina. But 2 in a 5 mile radius is sorrowfull. (there may have been more, but whilst at the Marina I looked and looked then looked again).

That's very interesting and explains why its difficult to get them out of the house once they are in. I keep a child's fishing net handy for rescue and release purposes.

We've had loads of ladybirds and, earlier in the year, they congregated in their dozens on the sage we had around the garden - especially the ones that caught the sun in the evening.
