Phacelia tanacetifolia - is a very pretty scented plant with a variety of uses. Its one of the top 20 honey-producing flowers for honeybees. it can be sown from March right through until September. It germinates at low temperatures, is tolerant of cold temperatures and of most soils in sun or partial shade where i think the colour really does stand out .
With fast growing foliage it quickly suppresses weeds, whilst producing lots of organic matter and making an attractive groundcover. Will self-seed very easily and it is most commonly used as a green manure to correct soil and smother weeds which is how i first discovered it when i need to improve the soil of my veg plots . Now im hooked and wouldnt be without it
