    Hi
I have just acquired a small pergola and quite fancy a grape vine. I wondered if there was a dwarf variety which wouldn't grow too mad. Its very near a hedge.
    Many thanks for any suggestions,
    Jan

Have a look at the Victoriana nursery site, plenty of advice and plants to choose from.

Actually to grow good grapes you should control the growth of the vine duiring the growing season.
Most grapevines will grow like the clappers once established, but they are easy to control with a bit of pruning during the summer.

I bought a Lakemont seedless from Victoriana back in Jan, its now over 8ft tall in its first year, but I will be cutting it back this winter then training it next summer.

          No its on my allotment.
I've grown it vertically this year to get maximum extension, during the winter I'll cut it back by at least half and put it horizontally.
