IMG_0239.JPG IMG_0238.JPG When we were away on the Isle of Wight in August I found this whilst walking along the beach at Compton Bay.I thought it was just a stone but now I am not entirely sure.

Any Ideas from anyone as to what they think it could be...
    Thanks:smile:

PS,for some silly reason it always puts my photos in the wrong order...

Silica tetrahedra, Si04. Most common mineral in the earths crust, hardness 7 on the Mohs scale, conchoidal fracture patern.

From what I remember from Geology lessons :spinning:

Well, it depends if you want the answer in Latin or Scottish....

In Latin, it is the greater spotted 'Frigginius Biggious Stonious', or in Scottish, it is known as a 'Glasgow Key'

Thanks for all the interesting comments:blue thumb: It is nice that people have different ideas as to what it actually is but if it is just a pebble it is an interesting shaped one.

I shall keep it for the time being as I do find it interesting and will put it with the other bits I have picked up when beach combing:snorky:

I was gonna say hit it with a hammer to check if it had conchoidal fracture, but that would break it :heehee:

Oh, and if @clueless1 is right, it would annoy it and possibly start an interstellar war so best not to.
