I agree @Jiffy, it drives me hopping mad, what's happened to the world :old:, why can't people take pride or do anything properly? I get so irritated by laziness & people's bad attitudes :wallbanging:......I'm off again on my soapbox!

When I was growing up, it was an extraordinary matter which would lead to complaining to a company.
Today, it is good, old fashioned, ordinary "service" that I now write to a company about - because it is becoming a rarity ;)

The alternative to that is getting more and more complicated with all the Protection Zones, Surveillance Zones and Higher Risk Areas shown on DEFRA's map that "may change daily" as I wouldn't relish zooming in everyday to check whether the local situation had changed
Defra, UK - Animal health & welfare - Disease surveillance & control - Notifiable diseases - Avian Influenza - Interactive map

Not in High Risk areas shown on the map as link in my post #78 above. Our vilage is OK to let them out, but neighbouring village a mile away is within a High Risk zone and they still need to keep them in. But the zones and their boundaries can change on a daily basis so you need to check every day to find out what you need to do.

              Does that clarify it? :rolleyespink:

My girls are enjoying their freedom again. I'm going to make a few changes to the garden this year so they can have a better run area, I can only see that the AI is going to be a continuos problem & next time I want to be better equipped.

There was a handwritten sign in our butcher's shop window yesterday advertising free range eggs. I thought either that can't be right or he's being naughty, but perhaps the enforced enclosure now only affects certain areas?

There is a time limit on the birds being locked inside (not sure how long) but after that time the birds and eggs will not be free range that's why the ban has be lifted in some areas NFU has be pushing hard
