    As the old thread appears to be closed here's a new one.

    I bought this Ornithogalum dubium out of the bargain bin in a GC last summer for the princely sum of fifty pence. Since my last failed attempt with this species I have done a little more research and so when I got it home it went under the bench for a summer bake whilst it was dormant. It came back into growth in the autumn and it spent the winter in the porch where it is quite cool. So cool that the leaves against the window got scorched when it turned cold outside so I moved it into the cool spare room where buds soon started to emerge. Here it is today.................

        It's a shame that the Lachenalia which gets the same care regime year in year out has performed so poorly this winter :sad:

                    I had one a couple of year ago @longk but binned it after flowering. I thought it was difficult to get it to re flower, evidently it isn't.:blue thumb:

                      Well, it is one of two things;
                      1] once you have worked out how it is easy
                      or.........
                      2] I got lucky :heehee:

                      It is maybe easy to assume that as it is from S.Africa it likes it warm but it can get pretty parky down there in the winter which is when this blooms in habitat. Not as cold as the UK though.

                        If I remember rightly you got yours after seeing mine last year , Longk. Well, I'm pleased to say mines just sent its first spike up for this year :)

                        Just kept it cold ( as in an unheated room with the window open ), and then bought it into the warmth and repotted it just before Christmas.

                              That would be about right. I got my first one about three years ago but it never came back.

                              I can't say that mine has had that much warmth really but the cold spell is probably the key.

                                Someone on a houseplant site said its called Grand "something--something. but yes its a Begonia. It only blooms after its inside and about now. Stays out on the deck all summer . 13872653_10210518108852815_8777374087424740934_n.jpg
