Something really weird happened to me this morning. When I woke up my 1st thought was "I wonder if Bruce Forsyth is still going strong?".
I haven't thought of him in years really as not a Strictly Come Dancing fan and haven't followed what he's been up to since he did the Gereration Game years ago.
I did meet him a few times way back in the late 70s as I coached and played a bit of tennis at a golf club he was a member of but I wouldn't say I knew him.
On my way home this afternoon from Edinburgh I heard on the radio he died today, how very strange and rather errie that I should think about him on the day he died.

Aye, it is a sad day indeed - I had just left work this afternoon, arrived at the supermarket, when I heard the news alert on my phone. Normally, I would ignore them until I got home, but something made me look......

I can't say I am all that surprised, as he has clearly been ill for some time, but it doesn't make it any less sad. He was a huge part of British entertainment, and life, for so long - and he was one of the few that seemed to be such a genuinely nice guy that nobody had a bad word for. I grew up watching him on the likes of Generation Game, and Play Your Cards Right etc - always a laugh, always a smile.

RIP Bruce, and thank you for entertaining millions of us for so long.

An all round true entertainer, always with a twinkle in his eye. I shall miss seeing/hearing him as he's always been "there" either entertaining, or giving such lovely thoughts when ever someone he knew from the world of entertainment had passed away.

Eighty nine years old and entertaining the public for 75 of them! RIP Brucie ... didn't he do well!

I think everyone has summed up Bruce so well. I never really "followed" him on the TV so I only saw him occasionally but he always seemed to be so genuine and always raised a smile on my face.
My Wife met him many years ago when she was a St Johns Ambulance Senior Nurse and was on duty at a Golf Charity Tournament that he was playing near Knutsford in Cheshire. She had to follow him and the attending crowd for First Aid duties along with two other friends. To her surprise Bruce came over and chatted with her after finishing a round.
He thanked her for attending as First Aid Provider, asked if she had had a drink yet. When he found out that she hadn't he had a word with a Steward and within minutes a Waiter turned up on the Green with a tray of glasses of Champagne for my Wife and friends. My Wife told me Bruce was a real Gentleman and always remembered that day.

So, Bruce, it's been nice to see you, to see you, Nice:love30::thumbsup::snorky:

As a child aged around 10 I was taken to Madame Tussauds. I remember wandering along the exhibits with a crowd of others and coming to a stop in front of the Bruce Forsyth exhibit. I stood looking up at him and suddenly he came to life :yikes:. It was the real Bruce. The crowd screamed and then laughed. I remember he spoke to me as I was stood right in front of him but cannot remember what he said.

Sad news he has died but not unexpected :cry3:

I had to smile :) at one of the tabloid headlines:

                "Didn't he do well".

I only heard about this yesterday as we had no 'media' contact on holiday. I used to get my car repaired at the family garage where I lived in Edmonton, North London. No idea if it is still there!

I remember him as the presenter of Sunday Night at the London Palladium back in the '60's where his catchphrase was 'I'm in charge' long before the 'didn't he' one.

Kind of bloke you either liked or hated, I tend to think.

I liked him back then, but I think he tried to carry on too long.
He should have thrown his hand in a few years earlier than he did, I tend to think, but even so, he was good in his day, and will be missed.

Brucie was good at his job, and appreciated by most...including me. I shall try and take a leaf out of his book and carry on as long as possible. Whenever asked when I intend to retire I say ''never''
                      RIP Bruce, we`ll miss you.
