They usually deliver quite quickly too; I am on taxi duty tonight, but will only be out for around 40 mins if you need anything.

I've checked out AO and while their prices are really good unfortunately they won't deliver to the Highlands, typical! I don't understand this as they'll cross water to deliver to Northern Ireland.

So back on the road tomorrow, that 30 mile drive back to Aviemore to buy my Miele. Having found the shop closed last time, I rang to check they'll be open. :)

Oh, that is a pain! Good as AO are, there is a lot to be said for a local independent - best of luck!

The Miele was delivered on Tuesday. Such a big difference compared to my old one but I can't find fault with it. There's a good but not 'overdone' choice of programs including the ability to select the speed spin between 600 and 1400rpm, water temperature also. It also provides a short program for most washes, a bonus as I don't need to wash items like towels for around three hours, which seems to be the norm on most modern machines now. All program set up choices are on a straight forward, easy to use touch screen with the exception of the actual program, still selected on the turn of a knob. The machine on the whole is silent with the exception of the pump, that sounding more prominent because of all but silent spinning. Overall I'm pleased with what I've bought. I can't fault German manufacture. :)

I also have a new Bosch tumble dryer which I have a query on before use.

There is a kind of thick felt stuck onto the back of the machine and cut to fit the contours of the area. I've not seen this before and with no details to go on I presume it has to be left in place? Any thoughts on this please?

Sound deadening felt - pretty sure mine has it (although I have had it so long, i can't properly remember!), but to be absolutely sure I would consult the instructions or quick start guide. One thing I know for sure is that both appliances are highly likely to serve you well for many years in the future - our Bosch washing machine, tumble drier and dishwasher are all in advancing years now, and yet (currently) show little or no signs of ageing let alone trouble. Take comfort in the fact that you have invested in good quality kit, and I will look forward to the email in ten or fifteen years telling me that I was right......

Thanks @Fat Controller. I'd checked out the manual before posting here and there's nothing in that about the felt. I wouldn't know where to start looking on the web but I'll give it a go. :)

I can tell you - you are right now. :) I told my daughter she'll probably inherit the Miele, she said I hope not! :snorky: The manual says the motor has around a twenty year life span, that's engineering at it's best I would say.
