Just in case there is some curiosity, I will tell you. My brother-in-law now lives in Poland with his wife. He sold his house in America, his mail is re-routed to our house. So every 2-3 weeks I pack up what is his and put it in a huge mailing envelope and send it off. Been doing this now for 8 times at least. He gets it the package, and then at some point will send me a check for the postage costs for this. So the last time it seemed to take longer, he asks me Stupid question (texts it) "did you use the right address", So I am like, shaking my head. I text him back, "no I sent it to Disney World" . He texts back, "when you going to Disney World"? . So you see, even I use sarcasm.

When I am inside, I like being warm. I don't care much for air conditioning unless it's 90f plus high humidity. I wear jumpers, slippers, etc when inside in the winter, unless I'm working. When active I am self heating :)

I don't mind the temps being low at night because I wear flannel jammies and heaps of blankets.

I will look up my baby pictures to verify it, but I am pretty sure I was born with a jumper on :)

not sure what I was wearing when a baby. but now. all winter, its a T-shirt and thin bottoms, and a blanket , he keeps the house to warm for me to need more.

Good morning my moan for the day is fireworks and Halloween what is the mentality of some people,my poor furry friends are just terrified of them and they have been going off for the last 2 weeks and with one more to go,even the stores are selling them at half price and why do we teach youngsters not to take sweets from strangers for a long time, when once a year tell them its OK,thanks for listening.

Reminds me of the time we went to bring Alfie :cat-kittyandsmiley:home - driving down an unfamiliar single lane road, came across a 4X4. After 15 minutes of shuffling cars to and forth we managed to pass. My jaw dropped when just beyond where we passed, the single lane turned into a normal 'A' road. To this day, I wonder why the other driver couldn't be bothered to reverse 5 meters onto the 'A' road part. What a PLEB .

Most of my youngsters that will make their way up my drive tonight are attended by an adult. so I guess, "then" its ok. we don't have fireworks going off for Halloween here. but in general on other holidays, like July 4th, we do. My cats are tolerable to it somewhat, probably because the sound is distant enough. If they are frightened they would run for the woods or under the bed which ever came first. I did have a Great Dane once, he needed "dogie" downers for the "firework" type holidays. Its not a good thing when a 170lb dog tries to hide under you with shakes. My cats will get upset with the severe thunder/lightening noise. I then hope they are all inside and keep them there.

A gentleman I saw today was in a distressed state: his pure white Alsatian had endured 4 nights of constant fireworks going off - not the sparklers, Catherine wheels and little rockets we all grew up with, but those BIG display type fireworks (which are freely available to all and sundry) - and suffered a heart attack and passed away in his arms. Absolutely heart-breaking!!! :cry3: :cry3: :cry3: The unintended consequences of "entertainment"!
Wouldn't be half so bad IF they were restricted to just 5th November, Diwali and New Year. Wouldn't be half so bad IF those mahoosive ones were only sold to people holding an organised, ADVERTISED, events! At least then, animal owners could take precautions to reduce the potential stress of those whizzbangs (various products are available).
                        So, so, sad!

yes, if you know your animal has that reaction, then get the pills. they work, you have to get them in their mouth before the noise starts so it works. its done by weight of dog etc. it does not put them out totally, just a sweet lull. Actually those with puppies, the training thing for this issue, is to totally ignore, if they respond to the noise. If you nurture etc. they will think they need to further react. I get it that the noise hurts their ears. that is a different issue.

Alfie will take no notice at all of the fireworks - as you know he's totally deaf - probably kip through the lot I should imagine :spinning:.
