Woo have a careful look...the male flowers/catkins should be there now.
They just wait until the spring before getting longer/ yellow from the pollen ...more obvious.

One day in the very distant future the French will learn how to pronounce Hazel....but I'm not holding my breath

Pas même....Aaaaaaazel Is it really so difficult to pronounce an 'H'??? Nemind....you've gotta love 'em. On the subject of nuts.....one of the almond trees had a superb crop this year, for the first time. So promptly chopped it down My fault...should never have planted it just above a retaining wall. It'll cost a lot less to replace the tree than rebuild the wall....
Still, it's an experience eating fresh, tender, sweet almonds. Yum!
