My SatNav would have been OK last night if they had bothered to notify the closing of the slip road off the motorway (roadworks). It kept trying to take me back to the motorway until I drove far enough into the boondocks for it to decide I really didn't want to use the motorway.

A rather unusual situation because the SatNav normally knows where all the roadworks are

I was wondering, @shiney if your shineyland fun will still be going ahead this year - as the Saturday seems to co-incide with the royal wedding thing going on! This is possibly not a rant though so maybe doesn't belong here!! :)

The Royals haven't told me when the wedding is but we shall still be having our event as usual. They normally send their apologies if they can't make it.

Don't worry though, we shall still have the GC Royals turning up. :heehee:

If you meet people out walking/cycling/on horses in the countryside and in very narrow lanes and other lanes/roads (which is just wide enough for a lorry 9 feet) please slow right down and give them as much room as possible PLEASE

Another close one for Miss Jiff and me, in the last 6 months we had 8 near missies where people in cars/4x4/4x4's with trailars and tractors with trailors have not slowed down to pass us and when i mean pass us there is about 6 inches between us and vechicle

                    PLEASE SLOW DOWN

If you drive with resect then Thankyou, this is at people that don't want to slow down when there meet a hazard

@Jiffy it is the law here that a vehicle must keep 1 meter away from cyclers on the roads here which on most roads is easily done. Pedestrians usually share the same treatment. ... can't believe anyone would go that close and at high speeds. Maniacs.

Oh we had our 3rd artic of the year along our road yesterday. Foreign as usual and managed to break a good sized branch of 1 of my lollipop trees which line the road. april 2016 6.jpg What a shame it broke his wing mirror but just might stop him coming along again. He has broken god knows how many branches off trees on his way to us. You'd have thought the penny would drop that our road REALLY isn't suitable for artics. There are plenty of signs saying no through road except for access and guess what he wasn't delivering to any of us on our road.
Daughter who drives artics doesn't use sat nav when driving all over the UK but swears by Google Maps which she says are super for showing the way. I too use Google Maps and while I don't use them as much as she does they have been a godsend for showing me where some out of the way places are.

I generally use google maps. My sat nav is in my glove box and its too much hassle to get it out and fire it up. Google maps uses up internet data though.

your talking paper maps infront of you when you drive? is that what I am hearing? My cell phone maps talk to me when I need to go somewhere I've never been. my data is unlimited.

What's happened to all the angels? I'm not particularly religious but went looking for something ephemeral and glittery to stick on top of the Christmas tree only to discover that angels have been replaced with rag dolls and owls. Owls???? All this nonsense about erasing all trace of Christianity from supposedly Christian countries is spreading. How sad. Might as well go the whole hog and revert to the pagan feast it started off as.....
