          question: anyone know how good Carlingford and Nicola varieties are for storing? Need to pull mine up cuz of blight. boo.

              Will it not affect the taste or spud? or is it too cold for any more damage to be done? Mine are in sacks.. if it makes a difference?

                They seem to keep ok in the ground, didn't bother digging my xmas charlottes after the blight took the haulms out, found the spuds in February and they were fine :)

                  You may no longer be able to have a go at growing them.

                  I spoke with Peter Glazebrook, the World Record holder for the heaviest potato, about 3 months ago and he thought that Kondor might not be available next year (2018). I've just contacted my previous source of them and they have confirmed they'll be unavailable.

                  I have saved one big 2017 (disease free ?) Kondor spud. Hopefully that will give me an advantage over competitors in the heaviest potato class who may now be forced to rely upon the likes of Marfona and Picasso for giant spuds.

                    What I heard was deterioration of seed stock quality to a point where suppliers are longer going to produce/sell Kondor seed potatoes. I don't know whether they can recover the variety, but will keep looking out for them.

                      Had a furtle last week, got some egg sized ones out of each sack, Carlingford and Nicola. Probably unearth the rest on sat along with some parsnips, carrots and swede for din dins.

                        @Webmaster Every single previous UK supplier of Kondor seed potatoes have now either removed them from their lists of varieties they hope to have for 2018, or confirmed that they are unable to source them.

                        EDIT: The breeder rights expired in 2014, this could mean nobody will put the investment into recreating new seed stock.
