That's due to the East Coast freezing cold "lazy" wind that doesn't go around you, but through you!!:hate-shocked::heehee:

That’s true @ARMANDII but us hardy brits can put up with a little cold occasionally brrrrr:bonfire:

On our local radio station the other year they were talking to one of these weathermen who says that in the summer Norfolk is one of the best places for sunshine in the summer months because warm air currents flow across from the West side of the country after coming across the seas from our friends across the pond and these winds gather more warm air as they flow across the fields of the Midlands:yes: so by the time they get to Norfolk the air temperatures go up so he was saying that Norfolk is one of the best places for a holiday in the summer months with not much rain.BUT in the winter months the winds come mostly from the East or flowing down from up North so Norfolk isn’t a brilliant place to live in the winter months unless you have been born and bred there and so will be used to those conditions :snorky::Wino:

Growing up in Lincolnshire we were told that people from Norfolk had webbed feet.

We have quite a lot of friends from Norfolk and they use the same comments about people from Suffolk. :snorky:

Then, of course, down here we have the comments about Essex girls. :rolleyespink:

My late father in law never came from Norfolk and he had webbed feet,I kid you not but thankfully Mr Kandy or his sister have not inherited the condition

If you all look at your outspread hands (and yes you all will do it to check:biggrin:) at the base of each finger we all have slight webbing a throwback from when we used to swim in the seas as a natural part of our existence before we crawled out and started to walk upright,or so the story goes I was told:whistle::snorky:

@Kandy maybe you should consider Anglesey as a place to move to. We have lots and lots of birds :). Yesterday morning I was lying in bed with coffee and the Heron flew over the house. He/she is in the field opposite the front garden and commutes to Sandy Beach from there. Also in that field at this time of year - and around the island - is the Egret. Soon the Swallows will be here. At the moment we have a huge flock of Starlings ( not the 50 or so living in my garden ) that are gathering together prior to returning to wherever they came from. I was watching them in the field a couple of days ago, estimated at least a thousand birds . Something spooked them and they took off swooped across the garden and away into another field. They were only a few feet above me, absolutely amazing, especially the sound of all those pairs of wings. :yahoo:

Anglesey has many diverse habitats so has many different kinds of resident and visiting birds all year round. The coastline and wildlife here are just spectacular. Some wonderful places in the interior of the island too :). House prices, whilst they have gone up, are still cheaper then a lot of the uk. There is the matter of all the coming changes of course, although I might be premature in anticipating the impact these changes will make.

@luciusmaximus you put me off Anglesey when you mentioned about the island having lots of wind & solar farms etc:sad:

I always wanted to live on Wight but Mr Kandy wasn’t keen and now after seeing all the trouble that goes on over there I am not bothered now.Sometimes Mr Kandy says he would like to move from here and then other times he says he is happy here. The village is ok but now there are too many people who are so above themselves they just look down on everyone as if we are something they have trodden in:sad:

We both love Somerset and I could see Mr Kandy living there but as he is knocking on towards another milestone age I feel time is running out to get a bigger garden before I pop my clogs:biggrin:

That’s nice having a Heron fly over although here we get Red Kites fly over most days.We enjoyed visiting South Stack last year although it nearly killed me walking up and down those steps and the wind nearly knocked us off our feet.Good to see the Puffins though:biggrin:

@Kandy There are already a few wind farms here. The council proposes to add to them or create new farms :wallbanging:. The solar farm is a first for the island. Solar panels will have less visual and auditory effect and are to be located in the interior of Anglesey. As are the current and future wind turbines. The new power pylons for Wylfa B will also go across country from Tregele to Brittania bridge before crossing the Straits to the mainland. The biomass plant is going into an existing disused site ( apparently ). And the jury is still out on the site of the 3rd Menai crossing. There is an argument to be made in favour of all these changes as they will undoubtedly bring new employment opportunities to Anglesey and boost the local economy. In an area of high unemployment and a struggling economy these changes are considered positive by some.

But not by me!! I like living in the dark ages :snorky: :snorky:. Part of me thinks it might not be as bad as I fear it will be and part of me says go now while you can.

We don't have the issue of snobby neighbours as we only have one direct neighbour and we hardly see or hear her. I think it's fair to say that some of the indigenous population have something of an ' attitude ' but that doesn't bother me at all.

Moving house is always stressful and even more so when moving any distance. There is a lot to be considered. I have never visited Cumbria or Norfolk or many of the other places I have been looking at. The information I have comes from pictures and reading on the internet. But it's a start.

I love Anglesey . We normally go with the family in October ( missed last year ) .To Trearrdur bay on Holy Island . A lovely little seaside town famous for its yachting. I always told the grand kids , we are on an island off an island off an island . Not sure they grasped it.:snorky:
Lovely little beaches and coves , with the yachts bobbing about . Two pubs and a couple of restaurants. No amusement arcades or candy floss - perfect :blue thumb:

It's not far from where we live. Badgers live on Holyhead golf course and can sometimes be seen wandering around. I imagine Trearddur Bay will be unaffected by the planned changes apart from proposed plans to build another 33 apartments.
