See below picture of my lawn, would you suggest cutting it the way I am currently doing this?

Should I change the direct of cutting ?

For less work the cutting direction should be following the longest edge as you have done. This needs less turns so is faster.

If you like to see nice stripes from your house then cut straight from the viewing point, e.g. window, patio, etc. If you cut at 90deg the stripes are not so obvious. It makes no difference to the grass it's all aesthetics.

An alternative viewpoint/perspective, if you always seem to be in a hurry when cutting your grass, so don't over-lap the stripes as you go...

...alternate which way you cut the grass, so long-ways one week, width-ways the next week. This way, you are sure to be cutting all the grass, and there aren't little tell-tale tufty-bits.

Even on a large area of grass (about 1/2 acre), if I cut it in the same direction each week, I always seem to "miss" the same bits! Due to the sloping nature of our garden, I cut it across the garden one week (looks good from the lounge, going across the slope, so easier on the back) and diagonally the next week (looks good from the garden gate, as you look "down" the stripes, and a longer cut without turning, so easier on the shoulders).

I cut in circles. Around one tree, keep going further out, round and round, then the next round and round, etc. finally the circles meet. then around the edges. no straight lines here.

I always tend to alternate cuts, it cuts down on the rib look if you have dips or imperfections on the lawn level side of things.

I cut in 4 directions incl diagonally.

I do so because I believe it helps cut the lawn better. Grass that escqpes the blades one way will be cut the next.

I cut twice a week on medium setting......so every 2 weeks the grass is mown in every angle :)

Grass rarely stops growing here but I enjoy cutting it; the smell every time is invigorating. Just cut again. A bonus this evening is philadelphus belle etoile now offering its wonderful scent as I pass with the mower :)

was looking at the lawn pix. counting the passes. I would say that area is only the size of our left side lawn, the right side need one square also. now, if I take that square and put it in the front I would need 6 squares for the front. now the back 4 squares, now the back back another 4 squares.
