Turf around nature pond. Add light tall grass..?

A couple of pics would be a great help, devs, to give everyone an idea of the actual pond and it's site.
I have a wildlife pond which I dug in '93 using a liner and also includes a "dry" brick in the pond that runs along the length of one bank about 4' wide filled with garden soil which is the Bog Garden fed by water leaking inbetween the "dry" bricks in the wall.

Well , I know it can as it has with my pond banks. Having said that, laying turf directly onto the liner will be a problem unless you lay at least a couple of inches of garden soil, not compost, onto the liner. It would be better to take the soil right up to the edge while ensuring that the soil is damp to hold it together whilst putting on the liner.








So, while I do have grass growing on a couple of inches of soil over the liner, I also have planted Ferns, Astibles, Sedges etc, with plenty of marginal in crates on the shelves of the pond.

 

Hi devs, sorry for the delay in replying but I've been off the air for a couple of days. There's all sorts of garden projects you can do using the rock and the soil so I'm sure someone with come along with some ideas. Visiting other gardens will give you some ideas as well, don't rush into it but do a little looking around for inspiration. I used stone from Bala where they'd been blasting a new road through the Mountains to build a hidden sitting area by the pond, points of interest around the pond to break up the then bare banks, with most of the stones weighing between 50 and 60lbs. One key stone weighed nearly 160lbs and I used that for the entrance step down into the pond area.........it didn't do my Company Car much good!!
