I like to know what kind of fruit that you have harvested.
I've just picked my first lot of blackcurrants.

I am so jealous. In here harvesting time starts at August or September so need to wait a long time. :cry3:

          But they look yummy anyways.

I'm picking Strawberries and Raspberries now. Unfortunately pigeons have taken a real liking to my Raspberries and are getting more than me, I will net them this weekend.

My own blackcurrant and strawberry pickings.

This is where they came from:

I am very happy with how the blackcurrants turned out, albeit, they are more suitable for cooking purposes as I find them too sour for eating raw.

The variety is unknown as the owner of the original plant (shown in the brown pot) grew it from seed. The other seven plants were cuttings taken from that original plant about three years ago.

For every one of these picked, three were discarded due to woodlice damage (and they were huge plump ones too!). But, I still managed to pick about 2kg of them in total so am quite happy.

                        Plums?

It came from the tree with the red/maroon leaves.

                        Cherry plums, to be precise.

The tree is an ornamental that produces edible fruit, sweet when they are fully ripened.

I've picked them about two weeks early to make stone extraction easier for jam making. In addition, the fruit tends to split after a downpour following long periods of hot weather so I am just hedging my bets.

Yield is down this year as all of the cherry plum trees on the estate came into flower just as Beast From The East hit.

PS,sorry you will have to ignore the broad beans but I wanted to get all the produce in that we picked or dug up (new spuds)but they are on a different photo:snorky:

Most of this produce is now either in our tums or in the freezer as we have spent hours preparing the red and white currants for eating fresh and freezing:biggrin:

@misterQ those plums look great. We usually pick wild plums, but there's nothing about because of the weather.
Some years it's like that, good thing that i've got a lot of jam from the years before.

@Kandy they all look great. I freeze my redcurrants then take them off the stalks.
Still got a lot from last year, so i disided to give the bushes a good prune.

Nice harvests guys. Im weeks away from picking rasps and blackcurrants. The cupboards still packed with blackcurrant jams from previous years so god knows whats going to be done with this years crop.

Threw some frozen ones to the birds in winter and once they got over their confusion they scoffed them quick time.
