Bought a packet of these seeds, but nothing came up, just this very strange looking grass.
Now I know its probably just a weed, but not one I've seen in my garden before, so kind of wondering what it might be, it must have been in the packet of seed.

    Any ideas?

I am sure it’s not @pete but it has the look of one of the tradescantia  family there are some plain green ones..

I have the feeling it is a grass @Marley Farley , but I see your reasoning.

Yes, a tradescantia it is. I just now (half an hour ago) took my green one back in from an exile in the garden.

Mine gets purple shades underneath the leaves in good light, but yours has sort of wavy leaf edges. Beautiful :)

It doesn't look like it grew from a seed though... is there any chance that there was a bit of Tradescantia root or stem in the compost? How long have your Catharantus seeds been in?

Why does it not look like it grew from seed?
Definitely came from a seed, I saw the first leaf emerge knowing it wasn't Cararanthus.

I sowed the seed around April.
This has much smaller leaves than that trailing stuff everyone grew in macrame pots back in the 70s:biggrin:

I wouldn't go any further than saying that it's a member of the Commelinaceae family. I suspect that it will have small flowers so you'll love it Pete :heehee:

        Small white flowers?

I would have preferred a Catharanthus, or Vinca as I prefer to call it.
