It was in my Mum's garden, in a pot, as we were clearing out some stuff and my dog knocked it over and I thought I would take it home with me.
It's a nice red colour, but looks like it has been a bit faded in the sun!

Is it a kind of Begonia???

Its a heuchera Sally. Evergreen, or ever red! You can cut off those burnt leaves and now you can give them a feed too. They benefit from being divided ....easy to do. Pull apart or use a knife :)
Grows as well in pots as in the ground

      Oh, thank you Verdun! :)

It makes me feel sad, because my Mum would have told me that, but sadly she died last November, so I had to ask on here. :frown:

I really don't want it to die as it is the only plant I have of my Mum's, so I will look it up in detail and see how to look after it properly.

Thanks again Verdun, for such a quick reply.

You can divide it now if you want.....prob best in early September though bearing in mind we are likely to return to summer heat in a few days.

No, not your own soil Sally.

I would use john innes number 3. Plant it fairly deeply, cut off all the old leaves (you should see bright red shoots so keep those) water it and top dress with grit (for appearance and to help ward off vine weevils which love heucheras:)

              Ok, thanks Verdun.

Where's the best place to get that grit from, somewhere not too expensive??

Be careful with Heucheras.............. they can be very addictive!!!:blue thumb:

                You are right strongylodon :)

Sally, the grit is available from garden centres, DIY stores, etc. A small bag prob costs £3 or so and you only enough to surface cover the soil in pots. :)
