Hi I’ve recently inherited a raised bed and I’m not sure what’s already there and don’t want to rip stuff out of its doing fine. Bottom two photos are of a tree.

    Thanks

    1. Bergenia
    2. Dock - weed - needs pulling up quickly and carefully to stop those seeds spreading
    The tree is Sycamore

    1. Agree with JWK - the common name for this is "elephants ears"
    2. Again, agree with JWK!
    3. Lonicera something-or-other (sorry - not very helpful!) - used to be called poor man's box. It is normally planted as a hedging plant. It can take quite fine pruning/cutting/trimming, so could be trimmed into a pleasing architectural shape ..

      4) Comfrey

      5) My guess would be not a common Sycamore, but a member of the same (Maple) genus, as the location suggests it's part of a planned planting scheme and I've never known Landscape Architects specify something as large as a Sycamore in that type of environment.

The tree is a Field Maple Acer campestre and can grow to quite a size if the roots are not confined and branches trimmed.. Not a tree for a raised bed Or close to a house, hence its name..
