Is there no saving this?

    Hi guys

I am a garden newb and trying to sort out my garden ready for autumn. If you view the attached pic, I have a plant that looks dried out and has come to its end. But I genuinely have no idea, so thought I'd check with you guys as to what you think I should do next? Do you think it will recover or should I pull out the whole thing?

    Thanks in advance :)

Well it certainly isn't well! What I would do is cut all the stems down to the base of the plant. If any of the inside of the stems are green then there just might be a chance of saving it. I am doubtful tho that you will find any and therefore the shrub is dead I am afraid. If it is a bin job and you decide to plant something else there I suggest you plant it further away than where the probably dead 1 is as it looks pretty close to some other plant/hedge. I hope you will enjoy Gardeners Corner and we can help you with learning how to look after your garden.

Hi Silu, appreciate your response. I'll do my best to salvage it. We've been here for approx 18 months and have quite a long narrow garden. Neither of us has gardening experience. We've focused on maintaining the lawn following the recent hot weather and perhaps neglected a few other parts. I joined Gardeners Corner to learn, so I look forward to soaking up as much knowledge as I can!
