ACD24D20-6E8D-4383-8398-0F27D9287E08.jpeg This is my Orostachys that I bought in Somerset in September and it is still going strong and now has flowers on it.Dont know whether I will be able to keep it going and have it on the dining room windowsill. It drinks like a fish and could do with being potted on but I think I shall lose it if I try.Have two pieces that broke off sitting in a small jar of water but they are not interested in rooting:sad:

Have tried wafting my small paintbrush over the flowers but don’t know whether I shall have any success in getting seed from the flowers

Do you not have somewhere cooler? Too much heat with too little light is not good. They are hardy down to about freezing.

:yikes: I'm not surprised! It's a succulent - remove from the water, trim the bottom and allow it to dry for a few days. Then poke it into a gritty compost mix.

Ok calm down have now moved it and the red one we got as well and put them out in the conservatory for this evening then will bring them indoors tomorrow morning as the fitter is coming first thing to do some snagging and I don’t want the plants to be in his way.The dining room gets plenty of sun and light in the mornings but didn’t realise it was a bit too much for them:sad:

I have also taken the broken bits out of the water and they are now in a pot drying off.I also have a few leaves that dropped off when travelling home so they are lying in a pot and have been drying off for a weekly so.Do I need to put them in some gritty compost @longk as well?

Got a couple that have flowered well for me this summer.
First I think is called "topsy turvy" so guessing a hybrid.
          DSC_0018.JPG DSC_0019.JPG
Second I dont have a name but is quite a good rosette, flower stalks a bit long even when grown outdoors all summer.

I'll be splitting them down into separate containers come next spring, as the fast growers have kind of swamped the slower ones.

Yes @pete it is Topsy Turvy, I've also got one.
Don't know the other one. I hope someone does because I have one of those also and would like to find its name.
It looks like you have a nice collection :)

I recently acquired the species E.runyonii. It's reportedly a really good doer so we'll see next year.

Talking of good doers @pete , here's the second flower spike on my E.cante which has now started blooming...............

The third spike won't be far behind

Its a good red against the bloom on the flower stem:smile:
I'm going to be potting one on next year to see if I can get it to flower.

It's a gem that I continue to be in your debt for :dbgrtmb:

The rosette on mine is far bigger than the pot. I can't say for sure but I wonder if a winter chill has something to do with it. Mine stays in an unheated greenhouse over the winter, bubble wrap over it if it gets really bitter.
Strangely, mine is very reluctant to produce offsets - just three very, very small offsets now. :dunno:

Well mine is in the unheated porch so gets pretty cold, but dry.
Its only had a couple of feeds this summer, along with watering when I remember, it looks healthy, but doesn't flower, it get full sun from 11am till 6pm in summer, facing south.

Odd. And I doubt that mine has even had a feed. Watering regime is pretty much the same as mine (when I remember) too.

Difference might be that mine has about 13 plus rosettes.
Maybe I should keep it to one.

You must think I'm a right rude t0$$€r! Thanks to GC's habit of dropping notifications I missed your post
My point is that daylight hours are short so too much heat results in weak straggly growth. Cool temperatures slow or suspend growth and ultimately result in a stronger plant.
Yes, pot them into a gritty mix if you haven't already (and I'm sure that you have).
                        Here's mine in bloom outdoors...........

'Lovely close up pictures of the flowering succulents @longk. The flowers are quite spectacular when seen in macro. I'll have to look at mine more closely.
I'm building up a little collection and have started to propagate some of them with varying success. :)
