Sorry @deana, totally missed your post

You posted on the day I moved to Kent, so I missed a few things :phew:

Afraid I sold the whole bowl of cacti for a tenner

Most of the cacti have put on growth since the central heating came on, a new experience for them and me :phew: :)

This is one of Pete's :)

This prickly pear has pulled itself upright, it was lying down flat when it got here, won't say what Tetters likened it to :snorky:

Zigs - try not to water at this time and allow them to come into growth. Top one seems to be moving a bit.
With the low light levels at this time of year, they will just become etiolated.
        Rather keep dry until March/April

Will it be ok to move them from warm to unheated ? :hate-shocked:

Tetters would be happy as she hates having cacti in the kitchen

well difficult now, they need to be dry when you move them, in my greenhouse which is kept just frost free I rarely water after mid September, and they get no water until around mid March or April depending on the weather.

Dont move any that are growing, but dry them all off and move them out in about a month, gradually if possible.

When I was a kid I had my first cacti in a tiny pot, I sat on it by mistake.:frown:
Believe me, dont keep them in the house they are dangerous.

Took a couple of weeks to get all the spines out of my a*se.

They are no safer outside, my brother tripped and put his face into a pan of cacti, fortunately he wore glasses and no cacti were harmed in the event.

image.jpg Hi all, would you clarify for me please? My cacti are and have always been in my unheated kitchen.
Do I just leave them dry now? And if so, when should I start watering again?
Please forgive the hideous pink flowers, daughters! :heehee:

Hi Loki, just keep them as cool and as bright as possible, also dry, but avoid really bad shrivelling.
The cool dry resting period will make them flower much better when the spring comes and temperatures naturally rise and you can start to slowly increase watering.
