Starting off the New Year I still have Carrots and Chard growing.

And some more Chard with a couple of trays of seed raised Asparagus plants, to be planted in new bed in Spring.

The rest of the tunnel is temporarily turned over to a workshop as I build some new gates in the dry.

Outside I have yet to start digging the Jerusalem Artichokes that are within by their supportive wooden cage, but their time is coming very soon.

In my small tunnel I still have a few carrots and Turnips remaining.

But apart from some autumn sown hardy annuals, it is also a tip.

And outside the plot is also a mess as works continue in dry spells to convert to No-Dig and a new composting area is built.

I have a few sprouts and celeriac left too (no photo's)

    How are your veggies growing?

Just sown some chard in the tunnel.

I'm not sowing anything more until Jan/Feb as my tunnel is taken over by the tender plants that will be moved out in March/April.

Seeds I already have are :

      2 x Tomato
      Cucumber
      2 x Sweet pepper
      Jalepeno
      2 x Melon
      2 x courgette

Not sure what else to grow until I get a better feel for the space that I have left. I have a lot of annuals and some perennials to sow. Bench space will be at a premuim

Sounds like you need a cold frame already. Have a look at Scrungees polytunnel topic Andrew, he created some simple shelving to grow loads of young plants on.

          Thanks Steve

Will have a look at that.

You know that thing when you build a fish pond and immediately realise that you need to build it bigger ?

I discovered that the same applies to polytunnels. Ive filled an 18 x 30ft tunnel in less than a season.

Granted, a lot will be coming out and there is a tunnel within the tunnel for some plants but the rate that I filled it surprised me.

I plan to have one side for tomatoes, cucumbers etc and the other side has a bench down the length for propagating.

Not sure what I'll be growing next year but definitely my giant tomatoes.

Still got carrots in the ground and some CARA spuds in a sack waiting for Jan 1st (my birthday).

Well I grow in my tunnel and I have
              leaks
Purple sprouting broccoli growing happily and have sown Autumn planting:-
              Onions
              Garlic
              Broad beans
              Potato onions (like large shallots)
Also moved my bean tower into the tunnel as I am going to try growing some Chinese long beans.. Too early to sow, but prepared the ground first with a big hole with lots of my own compost and back filled and tower in situ ready for sowing..
I also have my asparagus bed in the tunnel waiting to pop, but I am slo going to grow some asparagus peas too whenits a bit warmer...

Only some Spring Onions and Chard growing in a polytunnel, plus loads of containers full of Garlic in MPC to avoid the white rot I've got in open ground.

Also in tunnels got Daffs for cutting planted in blue ex-mushroom boxes, stacked one on top of other, bottom of top one cut out, wired together, lined with membrane, filled with spent compost from potato pots rejuvinated with bonemeal. Plus approx 250 mini Daffs and Tete a Tete bulbs in pots.

Outside I've got hundreds of autumn planted onions (these have been planted in the safest of locations away from possible white rot, and are less important as, unlike Garlic, they're not for replanting.

Also got Leeks that we've now started harvesting, Celery that had survived all frosts so far, and a bed of Coloured Beetroot that still has perfect leaves above the roots - must try beetroot in a tunnel next year.

Might try digging up some Rhubarb, planting in big flexitubs and putting in a tunnel for early cropping, as I'm doing with Strawberries.

As soon as New Year's over it's time to get the indoor growlights/propagators on for Chillies, Peppers, Leeks, etc., etc. When you've got those there's hardly any time between the end of one year's growing and start of tbe next.

I too have a fantastic crop of free wood in one of my tunnels, some of it's drying to be used for fuel at home, the rest is for projects at the plot.

When is the best time to start planting if you don't have a greenhouse or poly tunnel? Just raised beds and earth
