They have a £10 minimum order, so I'll go with sticky tape.

5 days on from grafting and they are getting a bit of light and air now. Reducing the humidity from 98% down to 80%. One graft looks to have failed:

2 days ago and they have come out the healing chamber (two plastic storage boxes to keep up humidity). Only one failure out of a dozen.

To give an idea of how the grafting butchery knocks the plant back here is the same variety side by side, the non-grafted has made a fair bit more growth over the last fortnight. In a month or so the grafted one will overtake:

Can now take the clips off, a close up of the graft wound now healed after 12 days:

            Planted out today, finally...

            Ha ha, it's Tomtatoes again!

Splice grafted because, like pete above, I was put off by the minimum order total for the Mole Seeds grafting clips so I just stuck with the old dodgy ebay clips and, those clips are only consistently reliable for doing splice grafts.

Chilli as the rootstock @misterQ ? Interesting, they seem happy so far. You must have buried them deep ?

I once tried Aubergines as rootstock which was an abject failure.

No, I'm aiming for three crops on one plant: potato rootstock, tomato and chilli scions.

The chilli came from seeds collected from a very long and splindly Turkish chilli given to me last year.

The potato and tomato came from seeds collected from Morrisons veg.

The potato part of the (Chilli)Tomtatoes were about 50cm long and had to go in diagonally otherwise the graft union would have stood too high above the surface.

Believe it or not, I find that grafting tomato onto aubergine rootstock easier to do than onto potato rootstock.

Grow the rootstock until it is semi woody. Cut the tomato scion at a leaf node because the structure around that section is much tougher than at a straight section of stem and therefore will keep its shape and integrity better. Graft using a splice graft and bind the union with strips of cling film. Keep warm and humid.

Sadly, the ChilliTomtatoes have been demoted.
The chilli scions have shrivelled up, albeit, not completely dead.

The good news is that the extra two Tomtatoes are doing very well.

Four trusses have set fruit from five/six trusses of blooms on each plant.
The potato shoots are a good sign.

Some have reached the top of the 8ft canes. I've topped them off at 7-8 trusses.

The weather has been cool and wet over the past three weeks. And, ten days ago the tomtatoes became infected with blight as a result.

Hence, today was the final harvest.

Hi @misterQ , we did our last lot Sunday, about a half of your amount.

Still doing well on Runner Beans though :)
