      Thanks @Fat Controller :blue thumb:

@kindredspirit I also like the use of ophiopogon. We have a large patch of it but haven't packed them so close. Your way looks much better. :)

Just had a quick shufty at the last thread. Wow yes that ophiopogon does look fab. I might have to plant some up in the same way. Looks great!

Volunteers always grow best! :) even if they've no soil. :) Aubretia and Fescue growing in a crack in the paving slabs.

Butterbur, which always flowers before it forms leaves.

That’s really interesting, @kindredspirit . I didn’t know Butterbur grew in water. Around here it grows on clay soil, of which there is an abundance. Did you know it is often found growing in farmhouse gardens which have a history of dairy farming? Butter used to be wrapped in Butterbur leaves, I guess during the 19th century and early 20th century or before. Hence the name Butterbur.

I think I will get some and plant it in my pond. What depth of water does it like?

I have mine in a plastic tray, almost flush but not quite, with the water, @Redwing

I use the tray because, if it had a chance, it'd go romping around the place. :)

Sky very cloudy when pics taken so lily flowers not fully open. Lillies were much later this year. Usually flower 1st of May: this year 21st of May.
