Well, I heard them saying that we are going to have start eating less meat, ( I eat very little) and start eating plant based alternatives.
Anyway, I do like fish, and eat lots of it, so I came across this the other day, a can of tuna, well almost, its soya tuna, with sweet chilli which I tend to like.
    DSC_0074.JPG

It is absolutely diabolical, and to be honest a waste of a good tin can.
If this is the kind of food the greens want us to eat, they can shoot me now, it really is totally disgusting, I chewed it for a bit, it was kind of crunchy and hot tasting, but I couldn't bring myself to swallow it.
I think I'd prefer those crickets that they are lining up for us instead of this kind of rubbish.

What really pees me off is these greenie veggies who want their 'kind to animals' vegetables but refuse to eat the cute fluffy bunnies that have to be killed to protect their vegetables as they grow! And they'll happily eat lots of dairy products which needs the female cow to calve - there is a 50/50 chance that the calf will be male and a large percentage of those will be slaughtered within a few days and discarded.
I was bought up on fresh bunny, game and trout. Plus once a year a crayfish feast.
I eat meat but I tend to be picky about it - no supermarket meat, unless it is in the bargain bin, very little processed meat (which has resulted in us buying just six to eight rashers of the butchers own bacon and less cured meats which are full of god knows what nowadays). And I am lucky to have a friend who is the deer warden in the commercial woods where he works so we get regular supplies of venison (and pheasant too).
Times are changing though. I know a 24 year old who has never eaten pork, never eaten offal, has no idea what a faggot is (truth be told it's probably best not to know what is in them but every so often faggots and mash is just what I want) and has never actually eaten homemade burgers or meatballs. Yet he'll eat a MaccyDee.
I've tried some of the veggie alternatives - :eeew: Each to their own I suppose but I don't get it.
Maybe we do need to eat les meat but what we certainly do need to do is to make better use of the livestock.

I really like my meat. I rarely pile a bunch of spices on them - only if it is a cheap cut. I've tried tofu.. yuk..it's got a horrible texture.

I haven't yet tried one of the hamburgers that are supposed to mimic one formed from real meat. I will probably try one out of curiosity but the cost would curtail them being a regular part of my diet even if I do like them!

I'm a devout carnivore but don't eat much fish. So I'll have your meat and you can have my fish.

I think all meat alternatives are foul. When I was a 'full-time ' vegetarian, before I married , I just enjoyed ( and still do) a lovely big plate of veg....looked like a rainbow on my plate.:) Add cheese, eggs, yoghurt, beans and legumes and all was well. Tofu is absolutely yuk!:yikes: in my opinion.

I do cook and enjoy veggie but love my meats. I once had a veggie friend have a go at me about if I liked meat I should be prepared to kill and butcher it myself! My simple answer was that I like to live in a nice house but I don't build them. He's never mentioned meat eating again but we're still good friends and he likes my veggie meals.

Shouldnt that be "devout vegetarian that only eats reconstituted vegetables known as meat" ?

I am a second hand vegetarian. I let the cows eat the veg and then I eat them. :)

I do like salads and veggies too. After all, if we didn't eat those, we'd get bunged up!

Well I think this is probably the point I'm trying to make.:blue thumb:
Why do they try to make veggie stuff taste like fish or meat and fail miserably, they are not doing anyone any favours.

I, like most, eat a mixture of both, I even like brussel sprouts, which for some reason get hated these days, by the young mostly, I was brought up on such things.

But I really dont think going down the road of trying to make soya taste like food is going to work.
I always like to know what is on my plate, and I dont want something masquerading as something else.
