Let us know how it goes jiffy :)
If it works I may try a few myself :)

Used to do the opposite, viz., sowing very early, and it worked very well. Years ago when I grew masses of runner beans.....I sowed in early March then planted out in a temporary home made poly tunnel shelter and was picking beans in early June. The cropping continued into September. Used to keep a log of the quantity produced. (I also sowed carrots and the rest in late February ....it meant time for successional crops ) :)
Despite the mild weather here I don’t remember ever picking in October or even seeing flowers then!:noidea:

Another consideration too is the quality of the beans produced......the taste was infinitely better to those produced in September. :) Those frozen in mid summer were better than those fresh beans picked so late :noidea:

Some years I've been fortunate enough to have been able to pick good tasting beans in October. Those have come from later plantings (June).

If I remember, I don't remember things like I used too :old:

Hopefully we should get some beans, even if it's for just a few meals, a few years back we were picking in early Novmeber just a hand full every day, if they won't faten their fill  if weather and ground is ok then you never know

Fingers crossed jiffy.....I will keep my own in a little longer too to see if they still produce then. :)

I'll take a chance on them. I had the bed prepped with the cane wigwam set last night but I wanted my kids to plant the beans but they had gone to bed before I was ready. I'll get the kids to plant them tonight and see what happens. I'd be happy if I got a few flowers and foliage. I have 5 canes, is it one bean on the inside of each cane?

I always start our beans off in pots then when 6 inches high plant out as we get better results than planting bean straight into soil, but this works well for us so we carry on the same way :)

Yes, beans inside the canes Eden 1 but sow 2 per cane. Pull out the weakest or, at this time of the year, let them both grow :)

Feedback is always important so let us know :)

I always grow two beans per cane and let both grow. If the soil has been prepared enough then there should be plenty of goodness to support both their growths.

As a bean fanatic there's never enough beans. I've only planted 200 this year  :heehee:

And you eat them all? Phew!
I'm like that with tomatoes but they don't have the same effect. :runforhills:

I feel like that I'm always asking questions, sometimes what seems like silly ones, but Im not knowledgeable enough to put much back in. Everybody seems very helpful and friendly and hopefully one day I might know something useful. Ive had so much invaluable advice.

Not quite. :) I sell a lot of beans for the charity I support. :blue thumb: Bean plants give one of the best returns for the effort.

                            But you sell your beans.

I've previously grown up to 100 Runners and we've eaten the lot ourselves.
