Well, you could go that big but you've left it a bit too late in my opinion.

You will get very lush growth and the plant will love it, but I'm just wondering if it will flower this year with such a large pot on this late.
    I'd go for the 10inch.;)

@andrews thanks for the input into 10" pot and hopefully i will be better at feeding, do you feed tomato feed? I've seen a specialist feed for brugmansia is it worth buying?

First flower is opening, is it diseased or rain damaged? Must say it has a really heavy scent 20190814_175200.jpg

Look slightly like a bit of rot, must admit I've never seem one open like that, maybe it could possibly be wind damage to the flowering bud?

I bought a Brug, quite a few years ago. From memory, it came with a help sheet which stated that Molasses should be used? I did get some and used it. Not sure if it helped as the plant really didn’t perform.

I'm sorry I have no idea, it has cover from the cannas but would have a wind from a southerly direction, more likely the neglect it's had, but that's been remedied, there's more buds so I'll see how they appear.

what does everyone do for winter care for Brugmansia ? I've brought mine into the house. One has lost some leaves from the frost early this week . I tried in the past storing them dry but that failed.

Interested too, I put my two in the greenhouse last weekend have an inkbird thermostat set for 10° and will just water sparingly thinking on the same line as my cannas.

I hack them back and store in the garage, pretty much bone dry, but they need to be a certain size before you can do that, I get some die back from the cut areas.

You need the plant to have a fairly woody base to do that, it wont work with newish cuttings, they need to overwinter in the green.

I dont think they like house conditions in winter, mostly too warm and dark.

The woody bits you hack off make good cuttings
