Christmas Eve. Beautiful day, 19c with intense blue skies. Friends came over for drinks and mince pies and her 80-odd year old father visiting from Chichester whom we have met before. Sat indoors with a log fire and the windows open! :heehee: Father and son in law (our friend) ex London cops. Lots of laughter.

        Have a peaceful Christmas everyone.

Just a basic scone recipe Woo, flour, butter, egg and milk ..I then add grated strong cheddar and parmesan with mustard, pepper and a little oregano.. I just chuck anything I have near me at the time in the mix. I also like to add cayenne pepper but we had run out of that!
This one is good. I've done this many times, same basic recipe without my extras!:heehee:

This afternoon stuffed the Turkey with homemade stuffing, covered it with foil and put in fridge for tomorrow. Got the cranberries out of the freezer to make the sauce tomorrow. That's to go with the Christmas pudding and whipped cream, not with the Turkey.

Baby son arrived this evening so hubs and I are very happy, would have been perfect if son No.2 was here but we are happy and excited for him and his girlfriend that they can finally have a 1st Christmas in their home. Despite living there for a year and a half their house has looked more like a bomb site due to all the renovations, so last year was spent in France with her parents. Now at last they have finished the lounge and dining room and actually have furniture now to relax and entertain in. Looking forward to them coming down for the New Year!

                  We've had a fun 'game's evening tonight.:)

Everything is prepped and ready to be cooked when we come home from my Dad's.

We are going over at 10 tomorrow morning. My two sisters, brother, niece and hubby and great nephew will be there as well . Should be the makings of a jolly time....it will make Dad's day !!:xmasyay:
Oopps...mustn't forget Donald Duck too who will undoubtedly be the star guest!!

The afternoon will be spent with our 'boys' and probably going for a walk.

A near to perfect Christmas Day :):smileytree:

                  Happy Christmas everyone.

The Turkey cooked well in the new oven. Had dinner about 11.30am, we waited to have the pudding at 3.30pm. Later on we'll have some chocolate gateau, with a bit of sparkling wine from Australia.

This year can't seem to get any sparkling wine from there.

Ok, we're early birds too, hubs is first up at 5- 5:15 then once he's done breakfast I get up at 6. He's also an early bird to bed 10:30 at the latest but I'm a night owl, bed at midnight at the earliest!!.

We always have our main meal ( now he's not working) at 1pm. A light supper at 6:30. It's weird how our routine has changed, breakfast was always about 7:30, now we have the opportunity for a lay in....and what happens....we are up even earlier!!! I blame it on the gardening bug!!!

I am often awake early. If I have any kind of appointment the next day, medical or whatever. I set the alarm clock. My snores or whatever are accompanied throughout the night by, tic, toc, tic, toc. How can one sleep through that.
Come the morning I find myself switching the clock off at leat 30 mins before alarm call. When I was a cop, wowee in another life, I'd be up at 04.00 and at work by 0700hrs. Now, sadly I'm on my own and as the saying goes. I have all the time in the world.

I strongly believe that to develop some kind of regularity in your life is good. Each to their own. More often than not. I am wide awake at my computer at 0300hrs perhaps here on GC or researching some science subject. The latter may seem pointless due to my age, but that's me. Correspondingly each of us have our own individual ways, quirks, whatever. This is what make you, YOU and me, ME. REcalling upon my medical studies of yesteryear. We must allow our bodies and general makeup to set the pace and pattern. It is when we attempt to turn against the grain, that some nasties can enter our life wellbeing.
Good health and longevity be yours.
