preparing spuds for storing

    Hi there ,
    How do you guys prep potatoes for storage ?
    I have harvested mine and laid them out on the grass for 2 hours in sunshine. I wont wash them and Ill leave the dirt on them.
    Next step is to bring them inside and let them sit for 2 weeks but this time in a dark room away from the light .
    Then its into burlap sacks to be stored somewhere cool and dark .
    Those this sound about right ? It's my first day time trying.

    The main thing is to keep them dry, dark and most importantly very cool. Never heard of "burlap" if its the same as hessian sounds like you are doing everything right.

      Southern Hemisphere?



      Preparation starts 2 or 3 weeks before digging them up. Cut the stems down to ground level and stop watering to toughen up their skins for storage.

      I was assuming the OP was digging them up like I am, Mine have over wintered in the ground and are just showing signs of new sprouts. They need to all come out soon or they start going soft.
