    Hi all,

this blossom tree seems to not be enjoying itself. The leaves seem to wither (as do the flowers) quickly. This was the case last year but I left in case it healed itself miraculously!

it’s neighbours are thriving but it isn’t. I’m considering ordering a new one or do we think this is salvageable?

    thanks

It will be a very different size to the others ... that can look annoyingly odd in a row of them ... but up to you of course :)

Cherry wounds don't heel easily (and can therefore be prone to infection), but that one looks to be doing a fair job so it may well recover.

      Thanks for reply.

I know, did consider a magnolia instead but gets a bit of wind so thought against that!

last year was like an amber goo where these wounds are so it looks slightly better and a wee bit healthier, just didn’t want to wait for ever with it.

      :)

Before you get the hatchet out :) it is worth considering just how long a replacement will take to fill that gap ... 5 - 7 years I would guess?

I would clear a nice circle around the base, that will remove the competition from the grass and help the tree. Mulch with something that the tree will enjoy :) (worth doing for all trees-in-lawn)

Heeded the advice and have implemented on all the trees. Looks a lot sharper and hopefully provide the trees with plenty of nutrients too.
