Same problem though - they still have to notify the bank and there isn't a way to do it without going in. I'll just have to get in the car and go twice I guess.

Very much on my mind at the moment - the lack of it!!

Getting really fed up with my doctors surgery, they only have one phone line and you can never get through on it, and its always closed on thursday afternoons.

Now due to all the stupidity that is going on you cant even go there without an invite, so cant go there to order a prescription, and to add to it all they are now not only closed on thursday afternoons but friday afternoons also.

I thought I'd sign up for their online effort, but it says you have to download a form, fill it in and take to the surgery along with your driving licence, great, but they wont open the door and let you in, plus my printer doesn't work.

There are some parts of the NHS which are great, there are others that are total C*ap, and this place is one of them.
I dont even have a GP anymore as mine retired at the end of March and I've not been given another one.

You hear, at times like this, of doctors coming back out of retirement, not mine, he's gone, and bloody good riddance.

Unfortunately, no. They were all eradicated buy the diggers - this is the rental place. I spent most of last summer killing the brambles and bindweed and this year all new ones are shooting up. I just can't take it that they're there lol The landlord is getting a heck of a deal considering he obviously hated gardening

Always an ongoing battle with both of those. I think I've managed to kill the few brambles I had but still battling ground elder.

I've resorted to using SBK. Takes ages to look effective but it works well; I just have to be careful where I spray it as the kiddly winks use the garden lots and lots... Luckily (?) most of the scratchy stuff is coming up from the middle of shrubs so has a natural kids barrier. I've spent the last week trying to dig out the tiniest tip of thorn from the end of my finger - finally got it this morning and the pain relief is like a drug induced high :yikes: (allegedly)

A cutthroat razor was always the best thing to get them out with - but takes skilful use of the razor. There is usually the tiniest part of the thorn that is just above the surface of the skin (only needs about 10 microns above the surface) and you slide the blade of the razor gently along the skin. When you feel it just touch the thorn you can easily catch it with the blade and lift it out. We used to remove hair splinters from the skin and hairs are about 50 microns thick.

A method I have used to remove an annoying rose splinter is wrap the finger in a Comfrey leaf and masking tape or a plaster give it 24 hours and it should draw it out.

This was embedded good and proper. Thought I'd got it all when I first pulled it but obviously a tiniest piece still in there. I just use a pin or needle to dig down and sharp tweezers. Had to go a few times as it was so deep and needed encouraging out... A stern talking to didn't seem to do it lol

I've used Germolene and a plaster, keep this on for a day as the Germolene draws the splinter/thorn out, or easier to get out with tweezers.

I've found that if you can put up with it long enough, it either starts to fester and at some point you can squeeze it out and it comes out with the puss.
Or it will heal up and work it's way out after a couple of months.
