Can anyone please these identify these Plants?

Hello all

I hope you are well.

I have a few plants that I am unsure as to what they are so any help in identifying them would be appreciated.

There are five, at the moment, no idea why but I have always seemed to have an affinity with the number five

2:



3:



4: Phlox? If so then which one?



5: Phormium but which one?

Is 1 a penstemon and 2 a sedum?

 

4 is weigela florida purpurea

Thanks for the reply.

I actually have a Penstemon a few feet away from No. 1 so I know it is not that, the leaves are different plus No. 1 has red split leaf tips (?).

As for No. 2, it does look like a Sedum but I am not able to identify which one.

Can you confirm that you meant No. 4 and not No. 3?

I did look up the Weigela Florida Purpurea and it does look like No 3.

Hi Keith,

1) Is a Penstemon, there are hundreds of these all with different leaves, so thet are hard to identify until they flower. Generally the narrower leaves ones are the hardiest.

2) Is a Sedum , probably a S. Telephium. These are now properly called Hylotelephium although many catalogues/Nurseries etc. still call them Sedum.

3) is a Wiegela,, couldn't tell you which one until it flowers ( should be any time now ).

4 ) Is a Phlox Paniculata. Sorry don't know which one as I don't grow them.

5) Is a Phormium, probably Phormium Yellow Wave.

The best way to identify plants once you know their Species name is to look at catalogues etc and then note their height etc. We can tell so much by the colour and foliage but a lot also depends on the way they grow..... height, bushiness, leaf type and colour etc.
