Announcement - Deeply Sad News

    It is with the deepest sadness that we have to inform you that one of our long standing friends Beckie (@Beckie76) has passed away, following a very brief illness.

    Those of us who were blessed to know Beckie will remember her for her incredible energy and enthusiasm, and of course her superb sense of humour. Beckie brought a smile and a laugh wherever she went, and we will all remember her fondly and with love in our hearts. In addition to being a keen gardener, Beckie was highly skilled in looking after hens, often taking hens on from other people when needed, and was an admin on a hen forum; Beckie also went above and beyond to help others in her community, especially so in recent weeks to help those who were shielding.

    We are sure that you will join us in extending our heartfelt sympathy to Beckie's husband Kevin and her family at this very difficult time.

    Please feel free to leave your condolences, or to share happy memories of our lovely Beckie in this thread.

    Rest in Peace our Gardening Angel.

      What a terrible shock, she was so young and full of life. Such a lovely lady, I have a beautiful fuchsia in flower now she gave me at the last shiney open day. We will miss her.

          I still have "Beckie's Bush" in my garden; bless her heart, she brought it to me (as you will recall, as I believe you were there) at Shineyland following us having a right old giggle about 'her bush' a couple of years earlier along with "M", and the two of them being somewhat suggestive with asparagus I believe. We will certainly miss her too.

            A terrible thing to read, we met Becky at at shiney's a few years ago and expected to see her there this year with others. As John put it a lovely lady full of life and great humour too, we

              I'm devastated at her loss. I got to know Beckie through here and we became friends albeit in the virtual sense.
              I will never forget her kindness, humour and caring nature. When a much-loved member of my family died, Beckie sent me a beautiful rose shrub which has pride of place in my main border. It has a whole new significance to me now.
              Last year, when her beloved Veronica passed across the rainbow bridge I sent Beckie an embroidery in Memorium of RonRon. Kevin told me earlier he now has it hanging up in honour of them both.

              Sleep well beautiful one. You are going to be much missed. xxx

                      She only lived about ten miles from us and we last saw her in Waitrose at Newmarket with Kev and he said he would come to Shiney’s with her this year...........Alas that was not to happen.

                              Mrs Shiney and I got on so well with her. Her wonderful bubbly personality lit up everything around her. It was an honour to know her and come and visit us.

                              She came to a lot of our open garden days and to some coffee mornings. After the open garden she joined a lot of the GC members at the restaurant for an 'Indian'. The warmth shone from her eyes.

                              She leaves a huge hole in the hearts of all who had the pleasure of knowing Beckie.

                              May her beautiful soul rest in peace.

                              Our deepest sympathy and prayers go to Kevin and all her family. Her last Facebook photos are so poignant, giving her Mum and uncle a huge hug xxx

                                So very sad to hear the news of Beckie. I didn't have the privilege of meeting her but she always seemed a friendly and bubbly person here on GC. She will be missed by us all. I send my condolences to her husband Kevin and family.
