Well dont think i will be able to post pics yet will have to look up how to post ,but might as well take this opportunity to tell you a bit about my garden . As i said in the introduction thread i have a few tropical and tropical looking plants in my garden . It started for me after taking holidays in the Dominican ,Mexico,Barbados ,Australia and Arizona as well as a few Mediterranean destinations.Should have just said hot places and stop showing off. Over the years i have experimented with many plants and lost more than i've managed to keep as i'm sure most of you will have done also . Some of the plants i've lost through the years include angels trumpets bird of paradise ensetes ,canna's ,Washingtonias .all of which were grown in pots and stored in the greenhouse. In 2010 i lost a ten foot cordyline and a trachycarpus which were growing in the garden .I'm sure most will remember 2010 being one of the coldest winters ever and in the Glasgow area the temperature sat at around minus ten for around two weeks . I may be wrong about that but it was cold enough for long enough for me to lose two large hardy plants . The cordyline which was one foot in circumference did produce several off shoots of which only one survived ,i obviously didnt take enough root from the plant . Strangely enough the survivor had grown to around eight feet but had started to sprout plants from the bottom to the middle of the trunk ,this must have weakened the plant because after a rather windy night in march this year it snapped leaving now a rather bushy cordyline happily for the moment growing away . Again in the introduction thread i said i had a banana (musa basjoo) that had flowered for the first time a few days ago . this had been growing for a few years in a large pot. Around eight years ago after being brought out the greenhouse and uncovered i noticed it had rotted so cut off the stalks and left it in the greenhouse .After two years of nothing happening i was about to throw the plant in the compost when i noticed a tiny node sticking out of the surface of the compost in the pot. I decided to plant the plant in a sheltered part of the garden and it has now grown to around nine foot when in leaf . it takes a bit of tlc ,covering it with straw , pallets and tarpaulin during the winter but its worth it . If you're still breathing and read all this and haven't lost the will to live well done . thanks for reading :).

Just click on "upload a file" at the bottom.
You can then just upload from your PC, Phone etc.

Your plants look marvelous, especially your Canna in bloom. I have a similar one but no flowers yet.

Pics of the cordyline that snapped earlier this year. The wind usually blows from the west so the fence gives it a bit of protection .Not that night it didn't . southern wind getting really gusty as itype this .Have already had to move a few cannas that have been blown over.
