    We have a plant that has appeared in our garden and is spreading quite quickly.

    The other day we were visiting the RHS Hyde Hall garden and saw loads of it but with no label.

    Can anyone identify it for us please?

    How tall is it? It has the look of Lysimachia Firecracker to me, but that is about 3 feet tall when in flower.

    Judging by the tiny flowers/seed I think it is in Amaranthaceae.
    Maybe arrived in bird seed.

    Leaves very wrong shape for Lysimachia firecracker...they do not have serrated edges.

      100% positive it is not Astilbe.
      Astilbe leaves are compound..one stem with many leaflets coming from it.

          Sorry for the delay but I've been busy.

          Apparently the plant was given to Mrs Shiney but she can't remember the name. I've taken some close-ups. Hope they're sufficient. Our plants are smaller than those at Hyde Hall but are, presumably, younger and they're growing in a gravel border.

          I hope the pictures are clear enough but the light was low by the time I took the shots.

            Interesting tiny flowers on the stem...can see red bits and white bits.
            Do please add further pics of these wee flowers.

            Don't recognise it.
            Not sure where to start looking.

            Snorky85 you can now see that Astilbe can be completely eliminated!

              Isn't it really annoying when you remember seeing a plant and just cannot get the name of it from deep in ones memory?
              Is it my poor eyesight or are those stems square shaped?
