    Hi - I have recently purchased an 8ft x 8ft greenhouse and I have been exploring options to heat it. I want to protect some plants over Winter and also propagate early in the season.

    Electric isn't an option

    I have looked at the propane heaters that are unvented and I would be concerned about damage to the plants without sufficient ventilation, which seems counterintuitive to heating the greenhouse.

    There are vented propane heaters available in the US but I can't find any similar products in the UK. What I am looking for is a propane heater, with thermostat which has a direct vent flue - so it sucks in air in from outside and also vents the gases outside.

    Does a similar product exist in the UK?

    Nick

    I use an unvented heater. It runs off the natural gas line from the house but it was originally set up for propane. My plants never suffered. People sit in there when it is raining and don't experience low levels of oxygen. Your greenhouse must be a lot better sealed/more air tight, than mine!

    I was waiting for somebody else to respond before posting that
    will vent the heat to the outside.

    I've used propane heaters in 2 greenhouses and never had any problems other than having them situated under autovents.

      @Scrungee I did that too.:biggrin:

      Bought what I thought was a fairly low BTU rated naptha heater which proved to be not near low enough :doh:It turned the greenhouse into a hot house in a hurry and that was on it's lowest setting. The vent opened up to it's max was what alerted me to the problem :doh::doh:Still got the heater and no idea where to use it :doh::doh::doh:
