No shortage of fish here, sweetie  Strangely, 95% of the fish and shellfish on the counters are species caught in the Pacific or Indian oceans.

So what kind of fish do you get down there?
We get the usual plus that vietnamese stuff and some funny carp, gilt head bream, and the usual jelly like things octopus etc.

It's a challenge to list them, especially as I don't know the English names for most, even if there are translations @pete. There is 'the usual'...cod, hake, coley, sole, plaice, salmon and trout. Turbot, halibut, swordfish, tuna, eels, bream, sea-bass, jelly-like things :roflol:, white rubber etc. But it's all meticulously labelled with it's origin, and very, very little appears to come from British waters. Especially the seafood. Smoked haddock, now, that's a luxury that I had to give up years ago :cry3:
Vietnamese stuff?? Panga? Dirty (allegedly), farmed stuff? It's banned here.

P'raps.....or could be that they are exotic species, or the buyers don't find British fish to be of high enough quality :roflol: When was the last time you spotted a swordfish frolicking off Folkestone? ;)

It's M'lady, actually  and it won't wash, 'cos they're just 5% of the offer. As the witness for the defence said earlier, 95% are fish I'd never heard of before..Lieu noir, Lieu jaune, merlan, julienne, maigre, bar....they're just the ones I can think of offhand.

Good evening @noisette47 my apologies wrong sea:heehee:

A two metre long Billfish swam by our boat one mile off shore, near Selsey, West Sussex. The shark like dorsal fin and long bill could be seen near the surface as it chased the lure under the boat. The consensus said its was a Swordfish, Xiphias gladius, and it looked like one to me.

Yeah well that's where all the French fish will be coming from in future.
Off limits to British gunboats says Sturgeon.

Stuff your cod fillet covered in goo  We'll get by with thinly sliced coquilles St Jacques (from Mauritius) marinaded in lime juice (from Tahiti) and sprinkled with caviar de citron rose (from Australia) accompanied by feuilles de pommes de terre de Bretagne. So there! :roflol:
