Well the surgery update seemed pretty clear to me. Can you point out the problem to me?

The only people who phone me on the land line now are asking if I have been in a car accident or they are going to cut my internet off:rolleyespink:
We book prescriptions etc on the NHS site "Patient Access". This also holds our details and mobile phone number (not the landline). I hope the surgery have the same info.

They appeared to me to be shouting with the capitals and I felt it was not thought out for consideration of readers feelings. I am in a very different environment to when I lived in the UK, and that might reflect how I interpret the notice. example...
When I received my notes on leaving our surgery I was shocked that previous xrays of my spine where in fact quite poor so I had no idea that I was causing myself more damage with my lifestyle, it took this health service to show me my problems and try and correct this...We are not always informed of what is going on for sure but treated very differently to my experiences from the UK.I hopes that answers your observation of my comment.

No, most unwise to do, pete, as 99% of the time it will be a marketing cold call. My Family, friends and my 5 employers have my Mobile number but I never ever give it out otherwise.:dunno::cat-kittyandsmiley::coffee:

Well, you never know, you could miss an important call.
And its not about putting out, its about answering it.

It just goes on the Covid. Daughter went back to work after getting her negative and now others are going down with the Virus, ..she is now covering more shifts We already so worried about them all.Son has has his negative but still not fit to go back on the buses. We had to have blood tests this week as felt very strange and get the test results tomorrow. Daughters husband was the first to get a negative and he is back at work with over 20 employees getting the virus they need the staff apparently... they never even closed the company.

All flights to and from South America have been banned due to the new Covid 19 variant identified in Brazil and, because of it's strong links with Brazil, Portugal is on the flight banned list.

We never answer our landline unless we recognise the number.

Well, surely that would be up to the caller to identify themselves and on the occasion when they do I pick up. But, in the case of the Surgery, they didn't identify themselves, plus they could have left a message.

Probably got better things to do at a time like this than mess around with someone who refuses to answer his phone.
Not like they are short of people to take up the option so straight on to the next one.

Not surprised as we have disasterous numbers at present Algarve is running 400 a day with a total of nearly 11,000 cases since the beginning, 3,500 currently active, 168 hospitalised 29 in ICU with 10 on ventilators and 100 deaths! We have the highest R rate in Portugal. Our deaths are mostly aged 80 and over.

Continental Portugal is on lockdown starting midnight tonight. No leaving homes except for usual ... food, medical. Doesn't affect us really as we stay in the safety of our little haven in the orchards.

Edit: I have changed that to 10 on ventilators rather than my typo of 19!

No, pete, I've been in my Surgery for decades and they know me well and, over the years have always left a message identifying themselves and what the reason is for calling. Also, the Surgery is renown for it's polite, caring attitude, and doesn't have a "s%d you" attitude but if that's your experience of your Surgery then I would suggest a change.
I can only put it down to a new member of staff (I didn't recognise the voice), perhaps hired for the Covid situation to call a list of patients, who was/ is inexperienced in calling people and not trained properly to identify themselves and leave a message as most businesses/people do.

Actually, pete, I last visited the Surgery over 3 years ago:dunno: I'd rather stay away from Doctors and Hospitals as much as possible as they, even in normal times, have enough to do without tripping over me.
I've, and my Family, have been with the same Doctor and Surgery for well over 35 years which believes in patient/Doctor continuity so that you get the same Doctor every time:love30:. But it's that kind of "family" Surgery that even after a couple years of not being in contact with them they recognise Patients voices and straightaway call them by their first names. So, it's a Surgery where you're not just a telephone number but an actual person. If you're not happy with your Surgery you really should change it.:dunno:

In the USA they're reporting a total reported Covid 19 fatality total of 38,000,855 but I'm sure that there's a few thousand more due to the chaotic state over there. They're also forecasting up to 477,000 covid fatalities by the end of the next 3 weeks.
