What is the current vaccination capacity in the UK now? Is it touching 500k per day?
Presume supply logistics will be causing problems soon, as other nations vaccination programs get up to speed.

I think, Harry, the vaccination philosophy generally is (a) does it have White hair? (b) does it move slowly?, (c) can it remember the 1940's/1950's?.....(d) If so, then if so, Jab it.
Most of the figures that were getting about numbers of vaccinations are out of date by the time any Government Official gives them, but they do appear to be on track for their vaccination target.
The EU has come to a grinding halt due to their main Vaccination Manufacturing Plant having to be modified to increase the production. The White House in the USA has just admitted that it has no reserves to cover the first Jab given to give the 2nd Jab.

Hey hey hey, don't be putting words in my mouth.:nonofinger: I did not suggest your surgery were rife with anything! Just generally that surgeries are able to pick who goes to the front of the line with the current system.

I can see the problem of needing to use the Pzfizer one immediately due to the storage issues but does not the other require simple refrigeration which most of these offices would already have?

Keeping the overage short term would enable them to add more 80 year olds to their next day's roster and of course the vials would need to be kept in chronological order. Current inventory reported back to the logistics team would facilitate them in adjusting future shipments and redirect the extra dosages where needed more urgently.;)

If this were done until all the 80 year olds were pretty much taken care, then reset the shipment levels when the next category begins. And the same cycle again.

And if a second jab is needed to complete the vaccination, it would be easier to track exactly how many were needed for each surgery and for each priority grouping. :)

Apparently India has started and they need to have enough vaccine for three hundred million people before July.
And I think its mostly the Astra/Zeneca one.
Although they did say they were using an Indian one that has not been fully tested.

That must give you a nice, warm glow, ARMANDII? How very sad that, even amongst politicians, this situation has given rise to a sort of 'competition' re. daily infection rates, testing, death rates, vaccinations accomplished et al. Dear God that people should (apparently) take pleasure in the relative misfortune of other parts of the world......

To be honest with you, Noisette, it makes me sad that folks aren't getting the vaccines when they should. I may be overjoyed that the UK has left the EU but seeing the vaccines being delayed either in the USA or the EU is most definitely not a good, perhaps I'm not as biased against the EU as the folk in the EU are as resentful and biased as they are in the EU.:dunno::doh:

The people I know here are simply perplexed, @ARMANDII. Of course, there are nationalistic bigots in every country, but on the whole, the French don't bear any ill-will towards the UK. There are many who want to see the EU reformed, but would choose to do it from within. But we digress...:)

I reckon we will shortly be looking at national curfew. I see that France now has a 6pm curfew - anyone found out and about after this time will be challenged by the Police.

Just read a news report where people from Southampton and Scotland were fined for breaking lock down here in sunny North Wales. No eyebrows went up - just a sigh of resignation.

The EU have made a mess of the vaccine rollout , to busy trying to save a few pennies than getting the vaccine to the people that need it . Labour and others throw a right wobbler when the UK government didn't join the EU buying scheme , thankfully its worked out well which has helped millions of people already, probably the only good thing the government done well with recently. The European countries are rightfully mad about the process and the bureaucracy around it, can't believe they didn't order enough first time round, Germany already jumped the gun and ordered millions more vaccines .
