Please could someone who has been vaccinated clarify - do they check what prescribed medications you are on before they stick the needle in your arm?

 

Yep, within the rules :

The Estate Agent said people are travelling hundreds of miles to view properties "because they can" and some often "don't social distance" when they get there. She said many virtual slots go unused because "people want physical viewings".

Curfew is the answer.

 

It keeps us all in our properties 18.00-6.00 and being Rural we have space to breathe. It must help, not sure what other measures can be put in place.

Our fire fighters are also on call as medics and fully trained to carry out most emergencies.You do not get taken off in a fire engine though You do not see ambulances that much like the UK although I have seen some around the hospitals, vans are used.

Today, in Deux-Sèvres, the incidence rate is 240 per 100,000 inhabitants, and the positivity rate of 6.9% , the highest in Nouvelle Aquitaine.

With a rapid progression of these indicators, the department is in an unfavorable situation. We are of course looking for the reasons for this evolution:

* analyzes are in progress to look for the possible presence of variant, without being able to indicate, at this time, that it is more present here, than elsewhere;

* the controls carried out and reinforced in recent days do not show any relaxation of behavior in the public space.

I therefore renew a message of great vigilance, in family and friendly circles, to respect barrier gestures and limit social interactions.

This morning, a Defense Council dedicated to Covid was convened by the Head of State. The question of the curfew was raised, and we will know, in a few hours, the decisions that we will have to implement here. For my part, I naturally began to discuss this hypothesis with my interlocutors, health professionals, local elected officials and economic players in the department. This consultation of the actors in the field is essential, because it is the pledge, then, whatever the decisions taken, of a commitment of all for the respect of these measures.

We are fortunate to have, here, players who play together, and who are fully mobilized. Yesterday, with the departmental director of the ARS , I had a videoconference with health professionals, who were able to discuss good vaccination practices in order to be effective. Today, still with the ARS , I have a meeting with elected officials and caregivers, territory by territory. We initiate a reflection adapted to the diversity of the territories, and an action plan, also pragmatic and adapted.

Associations are among the actors solicited and mobilized:

- the departmental association of civil protection, will, in the coming hours, mobilize to strengthen support for positive cases and contact cases, to better inform them, and to help people subjected to isolation in acts everyday ;

- with the Red Cross, we are going to charter a medical bus, to allow us to reach out to the most vulnerable people and to speed up vaccination.

This mobilization, in the department, is also that of the firefighters of SDIS 79: engaged since the start of the crisis, they have enabled the logistical support of the last mile, support for EHPADs , whether to fit out the airlock or to strengthen teams.

In short, in a few words: The general mobilization, at work since the beginning of the crisis, is strengthening and increasing in power. Little affected during the first wave, the department was in the regional average in November. The acceleration of recent days is generating increased mobilization; and it is rather comforting to see that all the actors of the territory are working in the same direction.

 

We too are on total lockdown only being allowed to leave our homes basically for food and medical reasons (for people and animals). Exercise in the open air and walking of dogs is permitted. Wearing of masks is compulsory in public.

• The Council of Ministers has decided that from 00h01 on the 15th January (meaning all day 15th) the duty to remain at home will return to Portugal in general until further notice.
  
• A ban on weekend travel between municipalities is reinstated.
• All establishments of all types must close at 20h00 during the week and 13h00 on weekends. The exception is food retailing which on weekends can operate until 17h00.
• The sale at the door of any non-food establishment is prohibited.
• The sale at the door of any kind of beverage, even coffee, is prohibited.
• The presence and consumption of food outside or in the vicinity of establishments is prohibited.
• All restaurants in shopping centres are closed, even if they are take-away.
• It is forbidden for people to stay in public spaces such as gardens. They can be frequented, but they cannot be places to spend time at.
• Municipalities are asked to limit access to areas that invite concentration of people, such as river margins, including spaces to play tennis etc.
  
• Universities, schools, day centres and community centres are to close.
  
• Travel for on-site work will require a written declaration.

The Police are constantly on patrol and fines for "disobedience" is doubled.

 

We have a Post Office Box in the Parish Council Offices and there is a little play and seating area in front of it (building on the left) with parking in front. As the postal service is operating, we are allowed to drive there (7 kms) to get our post. T'other Half said all the seating benches have been taped off so you can walk around but not sit, also the play area has been locked off.





We are at the very bottom of the map where the white bit is centrally, quite remote but have to suffer the consequences of what is happening elsewhere. Isso que é vida!

 

No John, for 20 years we have had a box at the PO. We are in the country and could have a box on the road 200 meters away. However, anything bigger than a letter we would have to go to the PO anyway to collect it. We don't get letters or much regular post as all bills are paid electronically here.

The nearest I can have a letterbox to my house is as far as you can see (my gates on the right)...

 

We have our own postbox outside our main gate and have some really lovely La Poste Ladies nearly always females here..young and so polite quite believably so. Rushing about in all weathers do not know how they do it...Before we move here the entrance was changed so we have another post box in the back road and also still have the other address..No1 in one road and No.15 in the other..very French and next door is No.9.....15 then 9..
we think that because we were No 1 in a different road 11 and 13 are a lot further up the road past us as maybe 15 was not is use...just thought of that.

Thankfully. I have had both my jabs. I have kept forum members upto date with my experience.
I already had an appointment booked in Urology at Guy's hospital. I received a text message, asking. Would I like to have the jab the same day. I gladly accepted. Everything was so well organised, considering the time factor etc. The appointment went like this. Check in. Then directed to a cubicle where a nurse checked my details. Name, date of birth etc. A list was displayed on the table, of things you may be allergic to. General questions continue. I mentioned the medications I am on. Then allergies. I said I was allergic to Asprin. Straight away a doctor came over and asked questions. All seemed OK. Next step. The dreaded needle. Honestly. There is nothing to be afraid of. Then a wait of about 15 minutes, just in case you feel a bit wooooooooozy. I never saw anyone with side effects. Please dispel any fears. I wish the very best.

 

I feel that when Mr.W gets to his appointment they will then ask questions...that's the way it normally goes here...Will know more on the 5th February.....

 

I'm not sure why, now the Oxford Vaccine is available and can be stored in a fridge, why these can't be given by your own GP at your own surgery instead of going to a Vaccine Hub.

 

Thank you for that information Mike Allen. I think I'll probably be told to go to vaccination hub at a local Centre so hope there's a doctor or pharmacist there to check on medications. I know not to have live vaccine (don't think either of the Covid ones are live) but no reply from hospital when I emailed to query - I know my consultant has been moved to work in ICU at the moment.
