I think anything I've told Facebook about myself is probably out there in most places anyway.

Oh dear, somebody might have these details

 

You can go into your settings and choose not to share your data and all sorts of settings. Facebook believes I'm well over a hundred years old. I rarely post, and then, only to keep in touch with friends I cannot visit during the perpetual lock downs.

If someone has information from facebook about me, I am sure they have filed it under "Boring", or "Needs to get a life!".

 

Oh no, phone numbers which would have been easily accessible two decades ago by looking into phone books are now easily accessible to see...

Anyways....

This will neither hurt Zuckerberg, nor Facebook as a whole. It won't even hurt the people using Facebook. Of course someone COULD always try to steal your persona, but they would get the same by simply snatching a week's worth of mail from your physical mailbox in front of your house. And probably more, because there is a lot more info in some of the letters you receive from your cable company or insurance.

Or you might get more unwanted spam/ads while browsing the internet. Hell, I would be glad if they tried to actually sell me something I really needed. But I once googled "dog shoes" and now I'm getting ads like I wanted to to run a dog sledding school.....

Everything carries cookies now @JWK but I didn't notice anything about notifications. My son sent me this link from America. He wouldn't have done that if he thought anything other than what 'big brother' already knows would be disclosed. However, I think the link is less worrying than the Facebook problems, which I would never sign up to anyway for a number of reasons.
