I blame Heathrow and/or the M3 - things get filthy round here really quick with black spots appearing all over - at first I thought they were berries being dropped by the birds, but they are too dark and too numerous; having said that, I am not seeing those as much in the past year or so - it is now sand-like dust which I think is donated by the local tip.

With pressure washers I think it's partly sale and demand caused by more people being interested in gardening and also because of added (unwanted?) tech.

I've been very happy with the performance of my one, just past it 8th birthday now, and although still leaking its performance doesn't seem to have been affected. With my now (extended the patio last year) over 2,200sq ft it gets a lot of use.

With outside heating I was looking at overhead electric heaters, something like this.
1.5kW IP34 Infrared Hanging Patio Heater in Stainless Steel by Heatlab® £149.99

We have a covered pergola (roof is corrugated plastic sitting 4" above the 8ft high pergola) and would prefer to have people round for dinner in the evening (with or without Covid restrictions being in force) on nice but chilly evenings. We have been using it, with distancing as we have 2 x 6ft tables under it. Overhead heating seems to be the most practical as they can hang from the cross beams.

Are there any thoughts on possible problems?

We have a smaller but similar problem with Stansted but the number of flights in 2020 was way down with just 3 million passengers compared to 24 million the previous year.

The sand like dust is actually mainly sand. Due to the almost non-existent rain we are getting the donation of sand from the Sahara with the prevailing winds mainly coming from there. It's not an infrequent occurrence but is much more noticeable during long dry spells.

I gave the car it's regular wash and polish the other day, (I do once a year whether it needs it or not).
One day later covered in dust, but the wind is coming form the east or north east.
I'm thinking it might be farming activities that are causing it due to the dry weather.

The best attachment that I bought for my washer is an extension lance as it means that I don't have to bend to get the nozzle down to the paving.

I confess that is also part of the reason I am looking at the ones I am, in the hope that my existing mid-tube will fit and make the lance longer - that and the fact that this machine has given the best part of a decade of service without fault.

See, I am terrible for car washing - every couple of weeks in the summer as I hate a dirty car. The last two I have had to go to a petrol station to do though as the pressure washer has been becoming increasingly flaky. Thing is, even a jet wash at a petrol station is £6-£8 around here. Folks were queuing up at the local hand car wash the other day (long queue) for £25 a pop! They must be raking it in at the moment.

Blimey - I definitely need to move. Seriously.

Anyone know what broadband is like in Wales?

£6 here for a basic car wash but I usually give them a couple of quid extra .
