No, @gks it is a money grab because part of the structure of furniture is foam. And foam and other upholstery/soft home furnishings are becoming more and more hard to get your hands on. Automotive geared down for long term and then realized that no, the demand for vehicles recovered faster than expected. And so did all the other new essential and non essential items.

China has long been the source for these fabrication goods and now they are exacting their control. A clear example of abuse of the supply and demand effect.

I know there has been some fallout with China and Australia, there has been bans of live shellfish and a 200% hike in tariffs on Australian wine. I read that a number of Canadian upholstery and furniture manufactures had lodged a complaint to the border agency last year, they where seeking to limit furniture from China and Vietnam entering into Canada. There was to be an inquiry to determine if the cheap imports into Canada were harming Canadian manufacturers.

I fully understand what your saying Pete. I went to Dobies with my Mrs on the Bank Holiday weekend, I was only in there looking for something for my mums birthday. I came out empty handed after having a browse round, lovely store with plenty of things to choose from, but for me as a consumer, its overpriced.

I can't get hold of poultry manure pellets, yet a 5kg tub is selling for more than I would normally charge for a 20kg bag, so I do understand your gripe.

@gks ,thanks for bringing this subject up,I really need to look more at labels, if I did I wouldn't be buying fertiliser with such a low nutrient content.
I do understand the problem you have with your customer expecting it to be totally nutrient, but I would have thought that the FBB that I was buying was at least similar to growmore.

Lots of things are sold as soil improvers but some people take them as fertilizer, which soil improvers are usally low in NPK

I always get soil tested in a lab, then i buy fert (25-50kg) to suit my needs and what i grow

I can remember when all fertiliser came in 50kg bags on flat decked trailers sheet and roped. No curtainsiders or forklifts, good old days where everyone just got stuck in.

We have a 6 wheeler and 8 wheeler rigid curtainsider's. Both are fitted to have the moffett mounty, as most places we go to will not off load by hand. My lad headed down today to Spalding to a commercial grower, he posted the below image on FB before he was off loaded. Truck is still in good nik for a 03 plate... My lad passed his class 2 in 2018, then his class 1 last October. He posted he passed on FB and has had numerous job offers to drive Artics, he is 22 years old.

How can you compare? FBB is organic and slow release. Growmore inorganic and fast-acting. (And cheap  ) AFAIK, inorganics were always cheaper and stronger than inorganic fertilisers, just not so kind to the environment ...
