Would you be so kind as to clarify which exact agreement you are talking about? I only know those brokered and then broken by Boris Johnson, for which he even was scolded within the UK. And wasn't he even the one who signed that exact agreement to have the border going through the Irish sea? He even suggested it after dismissing it as laughable when Theresa May first proposed some 2 years ago.

True, but only to a certain point. As soon as the tax money is used to build production capabilities for something like a vaccine, they can also have a say in how those are distributed. Whereas VW is a private corporation that didn't get EU-money in order to develop a specific car model. If you contract a gardener, give him 500 pounds in order to buy a lawnmower, and he starts mowing your neighbors lawn and tells you "your neighbor asked me first, so get in line" you would be pretty angry too.

    Edit: Fact-checking and link-adding.
Yes, there is a lot of "gut-feeling" and personal feelings involved in this discussion. So i try to keep sticking to the facts and documents available. The world isn't black or white. But i would appreciate it, if once in a while words like "treaty-breaking", and "spiteful EU" and "being blinded by EU-propaganda" would be supported by something more than a few exclamation marks and a two paragraph article from the SUN,

That would be this one - later blamed on a 'blunder' (my backside!) - EU's article 16 blunder has focused minds on Northern Ireland

Yes, Boris was the one who signed the agreement and for the record he wants his backside booting for doing so as well.

Regarding investment, let's not forget that the UK invested in vaccine plants in the EU (and elsewhere) - Has the UK really outperformed the EU on Covid-19 vaccinations?.

Not sure about your reference to the Sun as I don't read it - I have linked The Guardian above which is about as left-leaning, EU-loving as you could get.

The US president will tell fellow leaders at this week's G7 summit that gains since the Good Friday Agreement must be protected.

The UK and EU are at loggerheads over checks on goods going between Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

If no compromise is reached, there are fears of potential violence in NI.

Surely, justifcation for triggering Article 16?

Yes there is :blue thumb:- that's what makes it interesting - different people putting forward their own views.

If I want the bare facts, I'll read the Sun...:heehee:

I remember the last time we 'discussed' fishing rights with Iceland, we taught that tiny country a lesson with our mighty Royal Navy, oh hang on, maybe I miss-remembered

A soft aluminum frigate up against a strong Icelandic gunboat was no contest.

Aye - perfectly acceptable bangers before Brexit - which overnight become perfectly unacceptable.

Trusted Trader is the way - anything which the GB sends to NI and stays in NI is not delayed or messed about with - it's a simple movement of goods/services within the UK. Nothing to see here.

Anything else that travels out of NI is subject to the EU checks - the same rules which apply to the other parts of the UK.

No, no, no - this is too simple sir - the EU want to punish the UK sir...

I addition to Sarpo not understanding what a maincrop potato is, they still think the UK is in the EU

"NB. For contractual reasons we are unable to supply Sarpo Mira into the Republic of Ireland or EU countries other than the UK"

Sounds a bit like we are half in and half out.
I'm beginning to think that is how it is.

I noticed Biden is putting the boot in.
We all know where he stands, a United Ireland, which is what the EU have been angling for form the start.

Just wonder what kind of war that will kick off.
And it will be the EUs responsiblity to sort it out this time.

What a silly billy - it's time he was voted out:

The French President suggested Northern Ireland was not a full part of the UK amid an ongoing dispute over post-Brexit trade checks.
